Biographical Note

Julian C. Stanley was a professor of psychology at The Johns Hopkins University. He was born in Macon, Georgia on July 9, 1918. He received his B.S. from Georgia Southern College in 1927 and his Ed.D from Harvard in 1949.

Dr. Stanley taught at George Peabody College, Vanderbilt University and the University of Wisconsin before coming to Hopkins in 1967 as professor of psychology. He published widely in the field of educational psychology, and is known for his research in methods of learning measurement and statistics. At Hopkins, he organized and directed the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth.
