History

The President appointed an Executive Committee for the School of Engineering whose duty was "to prepare and study matters coming before this Board with the object of expediting the procedures of this Board [and] to act on matters, with authority as designated by this Board." (Board of Engineering Studies, General Regulations, April 1948). This committee considered students' requests for permission to take courses, absolve failures, receive credit for work outside the University, and to be reinstated in the University after withdrawing. In addition, the committee assigned teaching duties to instructors, granted permission to give courses, approved budgets for faculty travel, and arranged lecture series. It also established a curriculum for students who entered the university in the second year.
